Upstream master
Sees the converter through M-Bus Slave input.
A converter with an M-Bus Slave input and local M-Bus Master output can be used conceptually as a segment repeater, where the upstream side sees a slave-like interface and the downstream side powers a local meter segment.
Repeater operation is useful when a meter network must be extended, segmented or isolated by current budget. The upstream master communicates through the device while the local side maintains its own M-Bus segment.

Connected to the local M-Bus Master output.
Confirm timing, addressing and current reserve in documentation.
Use repeater concepts for extended installations, not as a substitute for a properly designed segment plan.
Segment rather than overload one line.
Faults become easier to localize.
Match segment size to MBS capacity class.
