Meter segment
M-Bus powers and communicates with slave meters.
M-Bus and Modbus solve different parts of an integration problem. M-Bus is commonly used on the meter side, while Modbus RTU over RS-485 is common on PLC, BMS and SCADA host systems.
In many projects an automation controller uses RS-485 while the meters use M-Bus. A converter therefore provides host communication on one side and M-Bus Master signalling on the meter side.
M-Bus powers and communicates with slave meters.
RS-485 connects to PLC, BMS or SCADA equipment.
An additional M-Bus Slave input can allow upstream M-Bus repeater operation.
When the requirement is RS-485 host integration plus a wired meter bus, the MBS family is intended for load classes up to 10, 200 and 400 standard loads.
Small nodes and pilot systems.
Commercial buildings and BMS systems.
Large or segmented metering networks.
